Supervision and Training

Clinical Supervision

Good....like REALLY good....Supervision and Training is VERY important to me! I have learned that it can set the tone and foundation for a successful, competent and balanced professional career or it can breed bad training and point others in the wrong direction, setting them up for burnout, ethical issues and even losing their license.

Personally, when I did have a good supervisor, I thrived and loved what I did. When I didn't, it affected me too. It was a missed opportunity for my own growth and development as I watched my colleagues who had solid guidance navigate the waters more easily. I admit it was frustrating.

From these experiences I developed a natural interest and commitment to offer supportive, solid, professional supervision. In 2010 I became a Certified Clinical Supervisor for both the State and then from the National Association of Social Workers. I then became the Supervisor for a CARF and CABHA accredited Community Mental Health Agency where I conducted individual and group supervision sessions for 26 staff members, oftentimes 4 sessions per day.

Today I continue to thoroughly enjoy assisting others through this process. My style of supervision is to yes....really do that cheesy saying.... "meet you wherever you are." My tendency is to bring out strengths, support you through those heartbreaking, nerve-wracking, confusing positions you may find yourself in, help you move through any  "deer in the headlight" situations, and to simply listen, teach, have your back and cheer you on. This includes maintaining a professional atmosphere while working through any professional and personal roadblocks that come up along the way. Cases are reviewed and developmental plans of what you want to accomplish during supervision are completed. Supportive lines of communication are set up, schedules are put in place and accomplishments are acknowledged all along the way.

Because I don't take this position lightly, I limit myself to working with a maximum of 4 supervision clients at one time. This ensures that I am available for each person's needs while enabling us to utilize group supervision throughout the process.

Similiar to other services, your first session is always free. This allows you to make sure that this is a partnership that will work for you.
